Day retreat

A day retreat for anyone who is participating in or has completed classes at the Glasgow Buddhist Centre.

All those who are familiar with the mindfulness of breathing and metta bhavana meditation practices are welcome to attend this event.

The morning will be spent in meditation and in the afternoon there will be smaller groups for the study of Buddhism and aspects of Buddhist practice. Bring vegetarian/ veggie food to share.

All GBC Buddhism and meditation classes are offered without charge, you are welcome to make a donation. 

Exploring meditation: A group for men (OMs & AO Mitra) Tuesdays 12:45 - 2pm

An open invitation to all local Dhamacaris and men who are mitras to join in a regular group, to meditate and explore practice together. The format is very simple 12:45 meet in GBC's reception room, then 1-2pm is a meditation sit in the small shrine room, followed by an opportunity to say something about what went on for each of us, in that particular session. You are welcome to stay on afterwards for a more informal chat. There is no need to book, just come along - see you there!

Tuesday Dharma Night 7-9pm

Every Tuesday night, all year round, we explore the Dharma and practise together. A community, made up of order members, mitras and people who have completed the level 2 buddhism courses, get together to study a particular aspect of the Buddha’s teaching, to practice meditation, or to take part in puja.  Please feel free to join in every Tuesday or when you can. 

A meditative programme to aid year end refection, integration and resolution.

Yoga with Joy Tuesdays 17:45-19:00 (new time from 7th January) 6 week block/ drop-in

Joy Charnley qualified with Yoga Scotland in 2011 and since then has been teaching a range of classess and 1:1 sessions, focussing on body and breath awareness. This is a mixed class. It will have people in it who are experienced yoga practitioners and also warmly welcomes beginners.

You can book for 6 week block (£48/36) or pay each week as a drop in.

Tai Chi with Pete McLeod 9 week course *starts 17th January

Pete has been practising Tai Chi since 1994 and teaching since 2009.  He initially studied Yang style long form under Alistair Sutherland and then latterly studied the short form under Tom Williams.  He is a registered instructor with the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain.

The class caters for beginners & regulars and includes instruction in the Yang short form, Qigong (energy cultivation) and a short meditation. The focus of the class is health and well-being.
