Impermanence is the cornerstone of Buddhist teachings and practice. All that exists is impermanent; nothing lasts. When we establish a deep understanding of this, we follow the Buddha’s teachings.
This day has been created to help us reflect and accept that our lives are beautiful and transient. In the morning we will have a guided tour of the great Glasgow Necropolis, looking at notable graves and Victorian death symbology to help us understand our cultural and spiritual beliefs about impermanence. We’ll come back to the GBC for lunch and then spend our afternoon reflecting on what we have seen, and through ritual, poetry and mantra, reflect on our own impermanence.
