The founding of Triratna Buddhist Order and Triratna Buddhist Community- a celebration

Every year we celebrate the founding of the Triratna Buddhist Order in 1968 by Urgyen Sangharakshita. At the time it was known as the Western Buddhist Order. At the Order's founding a new spiritual movement, called the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order, also came into being. This movement, developed and supported by the Triratna Buddhist Order as an experession of its desire for the happiness of all beings, is now known as the Triratna Buddhist Community.
