It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that our good and much loved friend Dharmacarini Vipassini died at 10.10 on Saturday, 2nd February. She had a peaceful death in the end, surrounded by her husband Dave and her three sons and their partners, all of whom had been very lovingly caring for her at home. She was 67 years old. Vipassini was ordained by Kalyansri privately and Ratnadharini publicly at Bhaja, in India, on the 23rd January, 2005 and her yidam was Amitabha, but recently Vajrasattva had become a strong presence for her too, as well as Bhante.
Vipassini’s funeral and woodland burial takes place on Monday 11th February at 1.30pm in Scotland. This is an invitation only event due to the size of the venue which can only accommodate her family and closest friends.
The Sangha at Glasgow Buddhist Centre however, have organised three opportunities to mark the death of our beloved friend and fellow farer in the Dharma. You are all invited.
On Monday 11th February at 1.30pm, there will be a Puja in honour of Vipassini, marking her funeral at Glasgow Buddhist Centre, 329 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G2 3HW.
On Sunday 17th February, 10.30am - 4.30pm, we will be remembering our friend Vipassini as part of our Sangha’s marking of Parinirvana day.
On Saturday 23rd March, 10.30am - 1pm, there will be a Sangha meditation and reflection morning marking the 49th day since Vipassini died. At 2.15pm there will be an open gathering at which we will celebrate her life.
Yours in Metta,
